The Help is a five hundred and twenty- two page522-page book about the lives of colored people and white people in 1962. This book is from the perspective of both white and colored people, andwhich illuminates their different opinions and how distinct their lives are. The Help highlights how brutally colored people were treated in those days by white people, but it also showedshows that some white people had sympathy for them. The character Skeeter Phelan wasis a white lady who wasis on the side of colored people. and inIn the book, she took part in secretly takingtakes notes ofon the traumatic experiences of maids, and made amakes an entire book out of all of the stories thatthe maids were able to share with her, in hope of spreading awareness to people all around. The Help also gave plentypaints a picture of detail ofthe maids' everyday life of the maids and how hard they wereare required to work. My viewpoint on this book, is that it is inspiring. It is remarkable that Skeeter was willing to lose her friends just so that she could support her opinion. HerShe and the maids that wereshe interviewed, were put in danger just to help people understand the aspect of what colored people went through in their everyday lives, and how it influenced them.
