Today, thepeople's lives of people change every day. Whether it is, whether from the death of a loved one, the birth of a new baby, or another life-changing eventetc. Currently, in society, people are more open to differences, and most people are wantingwant to change the society wethey live in. Both of these traits are great examples that represent today’s society.
Everyone has their own beliefs, morals, and values, but lately, most people arehave been more open to different views ofthat others. Although, somehold. Some individuals choose to believe that you can only marry a man if you are a woman, or you cannot do a man’s job, whichand that mentality is not a problem because it is their choice to act like that. A personal experience that relates to individuals having a machismo mentality is, in high school,that in my junior year of high school, I was a teacher’s aide for a history teacher. This history teacher would constantly make comments such as, “ Oh, Annett, I believe one day you will be such a great wife and stay at homestay-at-home mom.” or my personal favorite, “Why would you abort a baby if you were the one sleeping around, itaround? It is not the baby’s fault.” Just for clarification, I did not have an abortion. The topic of abortion came up due to a discussion in class. These quotes from my high school history teacher will always stick with me because he was a Republican to his core, and there is nothing wrong with that, but hearing things like that can be traumatizing to a 16-year-old girl. I have grown to see that the opinionopinions of others should not influence how you think ofabout yourself.
