Based on the empirical evidence thant criminality is not randomly distributed and that it has a tendency to concentrate in a specific spot, this study intends to assess the impact of various types of generators and attractors on general, violent and non-violent crime rates within 33 neighbourhood police stations as defined by the Montreal Police Department. Despite some limits, results suggest that only bars have an impact on crime rate. Furthermore, results also suggest the necessity to consider the structureal characteristics, particularly the seating capacity of bars, since this element seems to affect the criminogenic effect of thiese structures.
