In the goldfish lab, their wasere 3three different temperatures,; our class tested each temperature to see how many times the fish would open/close their operculum. Our group had the high temperature, which is 26°-28°C. The independent variable in our experiment was the water temperature (°C). The dependent variable was the number of opercular openings, that the fish had in one minute. The control group in the experiment was temperature that was perfect for the fish (20°-22°C). In the class experiment, we had 3three different temperature ranges, low (12°-14°), regular (20°-22°C), and warm (26°-28°C). A hypothesis that could be used for the warm water cotemperatuldre beis, "The goldfish will breathe faster in hot water, because warm water holds less oxygen and warmer water will speed up the fish's metabolism, which will cause the fish to need more oxygen."
