Walking meditation is a form of meditation in action. Walking is a great way to integrate mindfulness into your everyday life and has been practiced as a meditative technique for thousands of years.

Middleway Mindfulness
is leading a ‘Mindful peace walk' on Sat 24thurday, September 24th 2016 to remember people who have died as a result of drug or alcohol abuse or addiction in Brighton and Hove.

Nick Gully
, former Director of addiction services at the Priory London, a former homeless drug addict, a bBuddhist ‘biker’ and founder of Middleway Recovery, explains….:
New figures from the Office For National Statistics show the rate of recorded drug deaths more than double what it was 20 years ago .
Deaths related to drug use have risen to an all-time high, with Blackpool considered twice as bad as anywhere else in England. Just a few years ago one person a week was dying in Brighton and Hove as a result of drug misuse. However, once known as the drugs capital of the UK, Brighton has dropped off the list. "
Could this change be the result
of new approaches to treatment by a number of organiszations in the city?
To help raise awareness of recovery from drug and alcohol abuse we wanted to honour those people whose lives have ended too early.

: Saturday, 24th September 2016

A key part
of the Middleway Mindfulness approach to recovery and well-being is an ongoing support through regular meet ups ((or sangha to use the Buddhist term), wWhatsapp groups, and live events.
A long-running study out of Harvard suggests that one of the most important predictors of whether you age well and live a long and happy life is not the amount of money you amass or notoriety you receive. A much more important barometer of long term health and well-being is the strength of your relationships. Quotes from the
mMiddleway community certainly prove this theme…
“My Sangha has become a loving family” - Anonymous
“Both mindfulness and Sangha accompany me in everything
iI do, helping me to see more clearly when life little bumps crop up” - Anonymous
“Middleway has helped me bring peace, serenity and joy into my daily life
" - Anonymous
“In this community
, I am learning to connect from the heart” - Anonymous
“Since joining Middleway
iI've regained a sense of humour and rediscovered the joy of connection. I am no longer suicidal, depressed otr full of self loathing” - Anonymous
