Love is one of the most beautiful things humankind haves. Every human on this earth has the feeling of love, no matter what. Love doesn’t have to exist only between two opposite sexes, it can occurs between all humans. Therefore, it’s a universal feeling that we all have. In addition, love could be the most precious thing we should all be aware of, because it makes us feel positive and happy when by we loving each other and caringe for on e anch other. For instance, “universal love”, which means caring for people outside of our “tribe”, is possible, as it was mentioned in the article, “The Myth of Universal Love”, by the author Stephen T. Asma. According to Asma, “Universal love” is not a myth thandt we can truly only love only our “kith and kin”. For most people this might happen because of p theople’sir selfishness, but, Asma doesn’t really think that people are selfish. He just supports the idea of favoritism and that people should only love their family and members of their communities. In Asma’s article, he also argues with the two liberal social theorists, Peter Singer and Jeremy Rifkin, who both, according to the article, agree that we should have a utopian goal and that we should try to achieve “universal love”. Therefore, “universal love” is possible. Thereupon, I disagree with the author Stephen T. Asma that “universal love” is not possible and that he supports the idea of favoritism. We need universal love for three reasons: to accomplish our goals as one world, to achieve equality between all humankind, and most importantly to avoid the globalization issues we’re facing nowadays.
