As a Filipino, we embrace traditions that isare passed down through the years from different cultures. BeHaving been colonized by different countries made our beliefs mixed up. European people, Chinese people, and American people influenced the Filipino people where I’m belong in, in different ways. Back then, my ancestors were forced to learn the Spanish language and until now we are using some Spanish words with the same meaning in our language. Although we have our own language to count numbers, we are also still using the Spanish words to count numbers. The practiced of Roman Catholicism as athe religion of my family was also influenced by them. While Chinese people didn’t colonize the Philippines, we were influenced by them by believing in what they believe in. We believe in their zodiac sign and their superstitions about bad luck and good luck in life. The only thing that American people influence us is with is their own language. We have plenty of languages in the Philippines but English became our second language. These beliefs make us opened our eyes in the early years of our life on how cultureal identity areis important fonr every individual.
