- On 11 July 11th, 2013, Kilian Jornet beat the fastest overall time for ascent and descent with 4 hours, 57 minutes and 40 seconds.
- The airplane pilot Henri Giraud landed on the summit, which is only 30 m long (1960).
- There were few paraglider pilots landing on the summit, thanks to the hot weather conditions, whichthat provided strong hot airhot-air currents.
- Mont Blanc has the highest fatality rate in Europe and is known to be one of the deadliest mountains (average of 100 hikers a year).
There were two air crashes.
Air India Flight 245 in 1950 and Air India Flight 101 in 1966 were approaching Geneva airportAirport, but the pilots miscalculated their descent. 48 and 117 people died.
Inin the disaster died scientistsrespective accidents.
Among the fatalities was a scientist known as the "father" of India's nuclear programme –: Homi J. Bhabha.
