Mao Zedong had a very negative impact on China. When the cultural revolution started in China, people were reluctant. But, with the persuasion of Chairman Mao and his golowersfollowers, they were persuadedconvinced into following the revolution with much excitement and vigor. Months after the revolution had taken place, Red Guards started roaming the streets and enforcing the revolution upon anyone who was resistingresisted. They would do this by destroying "the "four olds"," which were old ideas, culture, customs, and habits. Red Guards would also search people's houses. Anyone who was in possession of "four olds" would be punished by sweeping the alleys, and the "four old" items would be confiscated. Many people in China were now struck by the fear of having their househouses searched and their personal belongings taken by the Red Guards. Chairman Mao brainwashed the people of China, killed millions of innocent people, and tore families apart.
