Boyer’s family farm is very particular. They are the owners of an independent farm, which had restricted delivery of product to locations in a 50-mile radius from their farmland and cultivates only organic products, which make them exclusives (654). Their use of organic techniques consists on spreading pomace, which is “grape skins and seeds left over from pressing at local wineries” (654). Mortenson successfully exposes the difficulties to succeed as a farmer, and Tom Boyers expressBoyer expresses how the new people must take their time and not get in bank debt for buying equipment and lands too fast (653). The farming business never stops. Mr. Boyer stated that he only gets four hours of sleep every day, and his “free” time is focused on finding new projects for the business (654). Farming must be a passion to succeed, not just another job.
