After watching the documentary, I don’t think that Bill T. Jones was exploiting the participants. During the time, he was with them, he was letting them express themselves freely through dance; it was also therapy for them. He was able to allow the participants to open up about themselves and give them another perspective on life. One particular time, he had the people to draw on a large sheet of paper showing their journey, and he would ask them to tell them about their selves, and. They would have to express in a walkthrough weatherwalk-through whether their livelife experiences were good or bad, and the participants would follow behind them. In the video, you saw the smiles on the people’s faces, even though they were going through a lot. The choreographer benefited more than gained because he was able to get a new perspective based on the other minds of the people that comecame from different walks of life, and it allowed him to see things differently.
