Doctors can treat a cancer patient more effectively by sequencing his genome and matchmatching the drugs to specific treatable mutations that he may have. Circulating DNA strands or cancer cells from blood can be performed on by a genetic sequence known as a liquid biopsy. This can be completed more often and is less invasive than a tumour biopsy. ThisThe technique allows the doctors to acquire real-time feedback from the patient’s condition through regular sampling and testing, thiswhich cannot be done with the highly-invasive tumour biopsy. Trials that are being conducted on patients are showing thea trustable result (“Biosensor Revolution”, 2018). Thus, this will help to improve the efficiency of the patients’ treatment, speeding and speed up their recovery rate, and more patients will return back to their workforce, boosting Singapore’s economy.
In conclusion, the research and development in biomedical technology, biosensors, and artificial intelligence help to reduce the pressure exerted on the healthcare system and increase its efficiency. This will speed up the patients’ recovery raterates, allowing them to return back to the workforce quickly and thus, boost Singapore’s economy.
