In between 1650 -and 1860, wasduring the African Slaveslave trade and the First Fleet, approximately over 20 million enslaved people were moved during the slave trade. As you can see from Source A , the western coast of Africa, also known as the slave coast, was the main West Africa slave trade region. An extensive slave trade route was through the Atlantic ocean. Americans subjugated people from Western Africa and then sold them off as slaves all over the Atlantic Ocean. MajorityThe majority of them were shipped to West Indies, Central America and South America. The slaves would have farmed tobacco, coffee, sugar, and rice, and worked in the minemines constantly without pay. According to Source B, the First Fleet of convicts arrived in January 1788. As the convicts started to settle on the land, a fledgling penal colony was established in what now is Sydney. Also in Source B Keneally says, “a sunstruck dungeon at the end of the world?." This refers to how none of the people on the First Fleet knew how Australia was going to be or iswas. It also shows how most of them were convicts. Convicts from the first fleetFirst Fleet were later joined by people from Britain and Ireland and laterthen other parts of Europe.
