FirstFirstly, Hehe is very good at coming up with new ideas. He brought up ideas when he came back to Japan last year based on my previous paper about statistical analysis of the unnormalized model. The ideas he brought up from a semiparametricsemi-parametric viewpoint were innovative. It leads to the state of the art estimator in the setting (first, statistically efficient estimator for unnormalized models with a continuous sample space case), and we wrote a paper based on this result. This paper is still under review. I am pretty sure that it will be accepted in some good journal for statistics. SecondSecondly, he has a solid technical skillskills needed for theoretical research. In fact, our paper includes complex theoretical guarantees based on mathematical statistics. More Especiallyparticularly, it requires a lot of knowledge of semiparametricsemi-parametric statistics and information geometry (divergence) a lot. I am pretty sure that he is proficient in both fields. Besides, he mostly completed the proof part mostly by himself. His proof style was very rigorous. Thirdly, he is a very independent scholar and an excellent communicator. We wrote papers remotely, and liaised mostly via E-mailemail.
