I am writing you to update you. I spoke with Dr. B. HeAs you said, he sounds like a mensch like you said. He advised me to reach out to Dr. S. from UP which I did. I haven’t been able to get in contact with him yet but I spoke with his current fellow, who gave me some soundsound advice on how to address some of my deficiencies as someone applying directly from general surgery. So, I will remain optimistic.
Currently, I am trying to strategize and plan for the worst case scenario, if I don’t match through the conventional channels. I wantedwant to know if you have any insight on how I might be able to find out two things.: 1. Is there a standard channel by which unfilled positions are listed (after the match).match)? 2. Is there a list of how many accredited positions for each program has as apposed to positions they are interviewing for.program? I am aware there is often a discrepancy between funded and accredited positions.
Thank you for your help. Each conversation I have makemakes me more determined to become a hand surgeon.
I’ll keep you posted as the match season progresses.
