Healthcare students often feel vulnerable to the demand of large amounts of information, to career planning, to stress arising from certain situations in practical internships, to problems related to the quality of teaching and the educational environment, and to personal situations (psychological vulnerabilities, socioeconomic situation, family problems, stressful situations due to the pursuit for independence and autonomy with regard to parents, conflicts between academic work and leisure, conflicts related to effective relationships). Therefore, anxiety ends up interfering with student's cognitive aspects, and in his selective attention, often impairing understanding and reasoning, thus reducing the acquisition of intellectual skills and performance.
The purpose of the study will be to analyze the prevalence of anxiety and the use of anxiolytics among students from the first to the twelfth year of the Medicine course of universities in Minas Gerais, to identify factors associated with the use, to understand the precipitating factors and the science of dependence risks. It is a cross-sectional study of a quantitative nature with the application of a questionnaire.
