Tightening the noose around diamontairediamantaires Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi, on Wednesday the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday seized and attached various immovable properties and valuables (Cut and Polished Diamonds) worth Rs 218.46 crorecrores in connection with the Punjab National Bank fraud. According to the agency, these properties belong to Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and his family members, Mihir Bhansali, and A. P. Gems and Jewellery Park Hyderabad. “With persistent efforts, the Enforcement Directorate could identify and track various assets which have now been attached,” said the agency. The seized and attached properties, which includesinclude a flat abroad worth approx. Rs 51 Crores (Approx) and havingcrores, have the beneficial ownership of Mihir Bhansali. The property was initially purchased jointly in the namenames of Mihir Bhansali and his wife. Later, after the Fraudfraud case became public, Mihir Bhansali transferred the ownership for a nominal value of USD 10 only. “Mihir Bhansali is a close confidante of Nirav Modi and the beneficiary of the scam. He was actively involved in the diversion and laundering of the funds received from PNB LOUs,” claims ED. ED has also attached a constructed building havingcovering an area of 2,10,000 Sqsquare feet on a 2.05 Acreacres land, situated atin Shaikpet Village, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, belonging to A. P. Gems and Jewellery Park . This property was attached to the tune of 89% and the attachment value of this property is Rs 120 Crorecrores. Mehul Choksi, who is in Antigua, is havinghas a 89% share of 89% in the property through convoluted structurestructures and overseas entityentities.
